Stolen from _rue: a Survey of 2005.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

1. [What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?] Erm... had to actually try to not have sex... that was new. Normally that comes very easily. Attended a video game convention.

2. [Did you make any resolutions for this year and will you make any for next year?] I made a resolution to not let fear stand between me and what I wanted. This year I'll vow to try harder.

3. [Did anyone close to you give birth?] Family friend.

4. [Did anyone close to you die?] That's be a no.

5. [What countries did you visit?] Mexico, the USA.

6. [What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?] Belief in love, a sold-out audience. Although there's still time for that second one (see plug below).

7. [What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?] March 26th, the day of... the incident.

8. [What was your biggest achievement of the year?] Likely be The Spy Who Left Me, back in March.

9. [What was your biggest failure?] My attempt at directing Two Guys, a Couch, and the Fate of the World. I mean, it turned out okay, but not all it should have been.

10. [Did you suffer illness or injury?] Not so you'd notice, no.

11. [What was the best thing you bought?] The Gamecube, I reckons.

12. [Whose behaviour merited celebration?] Nothing springs to mind.

13. [Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?] Government officials and... people who I'd refer to with an alias anyway.

14. [Where did most of your money go?] My portfolio's tied up in food and shelter. And comics. Many comics.

15. [What did you get really, really, really excited about?] Little old for that now, but I guess the Mexico trip and the three plays I've done.

16. [What song will always remind you of 2005?] Mr. Brightside by the Killers.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Dead even.
b) thinner or fatter? Also about the same, I think... hope...
c) richer or poorer? I've had two raises this year, so I guess slightly richer.

18. [What do you wish you'd done more of?] Dating.

19. [What do you wish you'd done less of?] Procrastinating.

20. [How will you be spending Christmas?]I'll be spending that particular day and half off work with the family.

21. [Did you fall in love in 2005?] Sadly, yes.

22. [How many one-night stands?] That'd be none.

23. [What was your favorite TV program?] LOST!

24. [Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?] No. Handy, that.

25. [What was the best book you read?] Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys.

26. [What was your greatest musical discovery?] Emm Gryner's Girl Versions.

27. [What did you want and get?] New laptop.

28. [What did you want and not get?] Her.

29. [What was your favourite film of this year?] SERENITY! Followed by Sin City.

30. [What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?] Performed in a play, got wasted.

31. [What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?] Her, dammit. Was I unclear?

32. [How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?] "What do I already own?"

33. [What kept you sane?] Binge drinking with Masquerade.

34. [Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?] Emile de Ravin, Claire from Lost. Sigh... so cute it hurts to look at her... and Australian to boot...

35. [What political issue stirred you the most?] Bush blowing hirricane relief, and Stephen fucking Harper.

36. [Who did you miss?] My former co-author, J.G.

37. [Who was the best new person you met?] The SG crowd, as the other contenders I met in December of 2004.

38. [Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.] Don't over-think things. There may not be time.

39. [Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.] We're drinking and we're dancing but there's nothing really happening and the place is dead as heaven on a Saturday night.

And now, show plug.

U-Boat of the Soul"

When: Dec. 7-10 8 pm, Dec. 14-17, 8 pm

Where: Dancers' Studio West, 2007 10 Ave. SW

Synopsis: Phil Payton, writer-in-residence for Taranto Theatre, has a problem. He's got one night to produce a new work, but he's been suffering from writer's block ever since splitting with his girlfriend...one of his current bosses. In a desperate bid to keep his job, Phil's trotting out his old spy hero, Dirk Rhombus, for another wacky adventure...but Dirk's not having it. Phil's fictional creation takes him on a journey to see just what spy thrillers can say about the world we live in and about Phil himself. WARNING: Contains nudity, coarse language, and large, hairy spiders fired at the audience through trap doors in the seats. Okay, just kidding about that last one.

Tickets: Adults - $13, Students and Seniors - $10, 2-for-1 Wednesday, Dec. 7th, 2005

To book tickets and for more information, please call (403)-999-2024 or e-mail <scorpio.info@shaw.ca>.

And now, mystery quote.
