So the weekend's over, I guess I can stop whinging about it in the journal, yeah?

I'd just like to throw out a few things here. Maybe later I'll expand on some, maybe I won't, but just some thoughts. Some new ideas for a new century, if you will.

1) Blind obedience is not the same as patriotism. In fact, it is at times the opposite. The Germans had blind faith for the Nazis, and no, I don't think comparing Bush to Hitler is overstating anything.

2) Traditional values are not what you recall. The values we look back on nostalgically and deplore the lack of today are filled with ignorance and prejudice. Seriously, all of them. Every generation, every decade, we try to put away a part of the ignorance and hatred that were a key part of the previous age's "traditional values." A return to tradition solves nothing. It is only new ideas, new values that will save us. NEW.

3) I'm sorry that shutting down a steel mill to reduce pollution costs people their jobs. I'm sorry that a 55-year old steel worker won't be able to re-train for a new job. But you know what? Maybe his grandchild would like to be 55 too. Maybe the survival of the planet has to be more important than jobs.

4) Complaining about corporations does not make your protest less valid. Team America made it seem like it does, and that riled me a little. Corporations are corrupt and destructive and need to be reigned in.

5) I'm told you should never sue over principle. That seems sage advice.

Okay, that should do me. Peace out.
