So you think biochemistry is boring huh?
Well this week we were talking about a disease called porphyria
porphyria is a group of metabolic disorders that impairs heme (stuff in red blood cells) synthesis.

Acute porphyrias present with pain in chest, abdomen, limbs or back, muscle numbness, tingling, paralysis, vomiting, constipation.
Most notable symptoms, historically linked to mythical vampires and werewolves, include acute neurovisceral symptoms such as personality disorders or mental changes, also symptoms such as skin lesions, hypertrichosis (excess of hair production), cutaneous photosensitivity (cannot be exposed to light for long periods of time) are seen.
