Ok, so I bought a new monitor.

Get this:

It's 21 FREAKIN INCHES!

It's a Trinitron with a nicely small dot pitch.

And it was insanely cheap!

So there I was at this big ass chain computer store. I go up to a guy standing behind a counter with a small wall of monitors behind him. I had noticed that they were all CRTs (which is best for image editing) but all were kinda small. 17 inches mostly.

Now, 17 inches is the monitor size I've used for years. Since way back in 94 when 17 inch monitors were the shit. But when my last monitor decided to blow a gun, my gf Angela borrowed a 20 inch flat panel plasma monitor from someone she works with and I knew there was no going back.

Because of that, I asked the guy behind the counter if he had any 20 inch monitors and he told me he thought he had a few up front in a wall of boxes that were on sale, so I asked to see them. We looked for a while and couldnt find anything larger than 19 inch, so I figured Id have to settle or look at another store. Then he spotted a box by itself on the floor and thought it might be a 20 inch. We looked and it was actually a 21 inch Sony. We looked for a price and there was a sticker on it that said it was $199. I was skeptical of this price since most monitors that big were well over $500, but he assured me that was the actual price. He said the reason it was so low was because it was refurbished. Now I know from being in the repair business years ago (stereos, TV, computers and stuff) that refurbished electronics are usually warranty items that broke and are better than new because of the rigorous testing they go through to make sure there are not going to have any more problems. Most people just wont pay full price on something that isnt new.

I was still a little unsure so I asked if I could see it hooked up to a computer. The guy didnt seem all that happy to oblige me, but started to go find me a computer to hook the monitor to. I then asked if he had any specifications and such that I could peruse while he got the monitor hooked up. He went to a terminal and printed out the spec sheet and handed it to me. After reading through all of the bells and whistles, I noticed at the bottom that there was a $50 rebate on the monitor. I asked him if the rebate was before or after the $199 price. He told me that the price on the box is what I pay now and the rebate I get after I send in the paperwork.

I swear at this point I had a visible erection.

I asked what the return policy was and he said I have a 30 day full money back guarantee if I decide to bring it back for any reason.

Sweet!

So I told him no need to hook it up, Id just take it home (before they came to their senses).

I got it home, lugged it up to my 3rd floor apartment (whew!) and hooked it up.

Wow.

Size matters, baby, and this motherfucker is packing some HEAT!!

And for you; here is a delicate flower.
