I rarely get political on SG because it's not even close to any of the main reasons I come here. That said, I am deeply passionate about my social & political leanings and I sometimes feel the need to vent or get out information about things that concern me. Today, it is the proposed de-funding of important health services offered by Planned Parenthood.

The U.S. House of Representatives has just voted to bar Planned Parenthood health centers from all federal funding for birth control, cancer screenings, HIV testing, and other lifesaving care.

Creating access to affordable cancer screenings, prenatal care and contraceptives is one of the best returns on the tax dollar. Planned Parenthood has prevented more abortions than any so-called 'Pro-life' group. I am a staunch supporter of Planned Parenthood, accessible health care for all, and of women's reproductive rights, so any time my government moves to restrict those rights, it gets my hackles up.

I hope that those who feel the same will take a moment to sign this petition to members of the U.S. Congress who are pushing for this reprehensible legislation:

Stand with Planned Parenthood.
