Apparently, there was an alien invasion in the skies over my city, late last evening.

First of all, there was a massive police presence close to my house, and several streets had been cordoned off and made inaccessible. A police helicopter was in the air. My son and I were peeking out the window to see what was going when we happened to look up and saw about 20 super bright, orange objects traveling slowly across the sky over my neighborhood. They appeared to be smaller than a plane or helicopter, and at a lower altitude than you would find a plane. They were somewhat in formation and on a slight downward trajectory. After a few minutes, the light they emitted just faded out completely.

In our excitement over trying to figure out what they were, my son and I inadvertently woke up my daughter, who had heard my son suggest it was an alien attack. My daughter was terrified and I had a hard time getting her back to bed, though I explained that it was certainly just a meteor shower.

This morning, I found video of the event on YouTube (shot by someone else):

The video incorrectly suggests that it is in Phoenix, AZ rather than Tucson, AZ (my town), though it was shot in Tucson (they even mention the police presence, which I later found out was unrelated & due to a murder near my neighborhood -- YIKES!). They apparently called it "Phoenix Lights" because Phoenix has also had this same event several times.

I am convinced it is meteorites (I don't necessarily believe in aliens -- at least not in the traditional Sci-Fi take on them) though my kids insist it is, indeed, aliens. My son argues that it can't be meteorites, because they were "flying in a diamond formation".

Regardless, it made for an interesting evening! smile

I remember when the Phoenix lights happened about 10 or so years ago. I watched the lights from the second floor balcony at my parents' house. I think it was just something from Luke Air Force Base.
