So, I decided last weekend to cut off all ties with an old friend. I got to the point where I decided that I was putting too much energy into trying to maintain a friendship that just was not there. I guess you get to the point in your life where it is easier to go through the motions of pretending that an old friendship exists than to establish new friendships. I am currently emotionally drained, as I don't have the energy needed to be outgoing with new people to make new friends. I have also come to the conclusion that no one can truely know you if they did not grow up with you. After all, these are the people that "knew you when" and have seen what you were and recognize how far you've come. These people are more valuable than gold.....
