Insta-cool.
There's a whole whack of crap that's supposed to turn Joe and Jill Average into Joe and Jill Awesome automatically (at least, in their muddied perceptions anyway), and most of those things are really irritating and go only far enough to piss this old dog off.
I guess the main things that get to me are style of dress and personal affectations. And getting yourself pierced or tattooed(*). Over-the-top attention seeking. I just... I don't know. Sometimes I look at this site and go "Who the fuck do they think they're fooling? What the hell are they trying to do/prove?" I mean, the SG title bar on the main page says "Pin Up, Punk Rock and Goth Girls". I don't find in there where it reads "Whiny brat failures of both sexes parading themselves around to feel important". I'm definitely not limiting it to the girls. I'm also adding in the desperate fanboys and fangirls who leave pathetic comments on everything just so someone will check them out and friend them or something.
Meh, but what do I know. Maybe I'm just jaded today. But yeah, the fact that the management here started putting up 4 sets a day shows what kind of backlog there must be, and shows how bandwagon-y SG is to a lot of people. I don't think I'm asking for much, just get a few tattoos or piercings or a little bit of attitude, new girls! I'm seeing a lot more Aguilera than Elvira, a lot more Barbie than Betty, and a lot more Maude than Morticia. Same sets, same look, same boredom. It's a good thing punk has nothing to do with originality or attitude and has everything to do with pouty bad girl looks and posing on your room with a Death Cab poster in the background. Bugh.
And Charlotte getting vaulted? I aint too happy about that, either! Now I need another new fave SG... hmn... Toy? Venla? Alexis? Brittany? Zui? Disco? Sphinx? AHHHH! Maybe someone Canadian, because Canadians are, in fact, awesome regardless of anything else. But however much I may bitch about SG, there are obviously a wholllllle lot of good ones.
And I'm not crazy about whiny politically motivated celebrities acting as if they know something we don't, either! GAHHHH!
ANNND... I forgot what I was going to say. Oh, that I saw Amina's Inked tonight. Which is a fairly decent show, in fact, though it seemed like a forced, shy-ish appearance from her. I was led to believe she'd be in it more, and be more vocal.
Today was a good day, though. A trip to the comic store, rain alllll day, lots of food, and an X-Men lot win on eBay. Now I'm rambling, for lack of something better to do.
(* - Does not include star tattoos, asian word/sign tattoos, or tattoos in any other language than what you speak, or tattoos that are done so someone will ask "Hey, what's your tattoo mean?" because those are all fucking stupid/wussy/ugly/overdone/lame/attention seeking trash)
