The Bad Religion Experience:

So, after seeing them two nights in a row, I suppose I should make an entry on the experience. It was my 7th and 8th time seeing them (I think). This time around, they are touring with Protest the Hero and Anti-Flag...

...who are two bands that bite ass. And suck nuts slowwwwly.
According to me.

Protest the Hero... well, let me ask, when did punk standards fall so low? Exactly when was it that effeminite, tight-pants-ed, dance choreographers who caterwaul for the duration of all their songs become the standard of punk?
Anyway... used the same speech, same joke, probably the same songs... I mean, who knows/cares? At the Toronto show the singer took his pants off for the last song to advertise the new Protest the Hero underwear.
He cupped his junk for the whole song.
His balls still rolled out.

Anti-Flag... I gotta tell you, I can only hear the name 'George Bush' so many times before I completely zone out/lose interest/start rolling my eyes. They repeated the same speeches both nights; "2000 soldiers blah blah 20,000 wounded/dead blah blah blah" and my favourite parts "...there are over tens of thousands of Iraqi people who have been killed...", which just seemed phrased comically to me, as did the term "illegal war". That's such a ridiculous term. As if a legal war would have been any better, for one, and for two... since when did punks care about what was legal when it suited them? They also had an outrage in Toronto, when some crowd surfer got her boob grabbed, and one of them went off on feminism thing. They called for the immediate expulsion by security of the violating party. Which didn't happen of course, but just served to make me laugh.
They mainly score points against them because I had a roommate that used to play three of their albums pretty much continuously... and that goddam voice? No. Just... no. Unfortunately, they score positive points for passing out their own flyers after both shows. You just don't see that.

Bad Religion.
Even with driving in a storm that came down so hard I thought I was going to die.
Even with the too-hip scenester doofuses analyzing the band, their albums, and punk as a whole yammering behind me.
Even with sitting through two shitty bands that I hate.
Even with dozens of crowd surfers, and the scores of kids who hadn't had their first shave yet.
Even with people desperately trying to get in front of me, and with the stupid little girl who actually asked if I'd mind letting her in front of me.
Bad Religion will always be worth it. They always bring me back from the brink at just the right time.
Those cage dancing, joke making, hard-rocking, carpal tunnelling, aging, balding, weight-gaining bastards doing what they do will always be worth it.

(Yeahhhh... this is the only pic that turned out. You can see the drum kit in the full shot, but you get the picture. Wait... was that a pun? Arrgh.)

Well I'm glad that despite all you had a good time!

I can't imagine your looks can suffer too much.

And yeah...I'm looking dreadful at the moment. It happens.
