....we just got back from Rome, well actually the smallest country in the world....Vatican City. Damn, if that place isn't a cash cow....
If it wasn't for the guards all over the place (specifically chosen Swedish Army) I would have run to the vaults to look up all the cool paranormal stuff written for centuries....you know the blood crying Mary and how the saints got they're powers.
The trip from Naples was a long one (3 hours) to get there....and we left at 6am. By the time we got there; a line snaked around 2 blocks, and took 45 mins to get in the museum door. The tour guide was was spitting out some really awesome info but was muffled out from all the people there. But after the "acorn court", we were shoved and pushed through most of the rooms not really getting to really look at anything mad
Finally we arrived at the Sistine Chapel...and damn it was a lot smaller than we expected and the guards were on crowd control. Sturnly and quite loudly to the crowd to shut the hell up (no talking or taking pics in the chapel). I was getting dizzy from looking up and studing the frescos I thought I would never see when I was in art school.
After that, we walked outside where it started to rain (figures) and we were standing out there....where thousands stand at Christmas Eve and Easter.... and every Sunday the Pope gives his blessing from a far window of his apartment ajoint to the Basillica.
We then had free time and we made a mad dash to have lunch(1pm, Italians eat lunch late)....I had gotten up at 4am to pack a lunch but couldn't bring it in my backpack because of the security. So we had to buy an ass-tastic lunch that cost us 18 euros (2 bowls of pasta and tomato sauce & 2 waters)
robot
We had no choice we were starving.....so the rest of the time we searched for Winky Jesus cards and glow in the dark crucifixes. Then the long drive home....... It was really worth it....but go on your own, they have cd tours that give you if not more info than what we got....push, shove, see it, get the hell out..... confused
