It's weird getting all the news about the election out here.

In my whole life, I don't recall any candidate for President ever caring enough to speak to Hawai'i. Sure, part of that is that the Democrats have no chance of ever losing the state in that kind of race (we did elect a Republican governor, but she's not a Bushie kind of Republican).

Thing is, it seems like more than that. I've never been to the mainland, but it just seems like we don't matter. I never hear about Hawaiian issues like the cost of shipping and freight carrying. I never hear about concern for protecting our delicate environment which has more endangered species than any other state. I never hear about any care for Native Hawaiians who struggle and who aren't even considered Native Americans by the federal government. I never hear anyone talking about recognizing our music and arts.

Hell, short of The Bradies Go Hawaiian, whose heard of us?

So I wonder for those of you on the mainland: do you, ever, hear anything about Hawai'i Nei?

I'll admit, I know little about Hawaii-specific political issues.

BTW, I'm happy to add you as a friend, but I've got a question and a caveat:

Question: why? Just curious.

Caveat: I don't post here much any more (in my journal almost none, in groups more rarely than I did). If you're really interested in what I have to say about myself for some reason, you'd do better to check out my livejournal.
