Well, Sheila has all her ducks in a row. Every excuse is ready to throw down any advice you wanna give her, and she's just denying her problem. God damn it!!!! At the least, I got her to admit she has a problem and that she's in denial, but she still thinks she's above help. I cant stand it any more, and I told her if she's not gonna seek any help, that she's gonna have to live with out me. I care about her too much to just watch her hurt herself like this, and I'd rather lose her friendship knowning I tried to help than to just sit and do nothing.
As a last ditch effort, I sent her some AA info in her area. She told me she wouldnt have time to go to meetings, but I found some groups that meet when she is free on the week ends. Now she really has no excuse, other than 'I dont want to talk about it' and as my psych-grad friend Andrea pointed out, she doesnt have to talk. She can just listen, and she'll prob hear a lot of old addicts talk about how they were doing what she is doing now (seriously fucking binge drinking).
Sad fucking times.
