Chernobyl....


It is a land where even after 23 years nothing lives long, even many miles away from ground zero. Estimates are that agriculture is not possible for at least 200 years, and the radiation deposited there won't be at fully safe levels for another 20,000. Recently, some have moved back. There are less than 10,000 people living somewhat in the vicinity of Chernobyl, but they are ALL elderly who where there at the time of the disaster and are between the ages of 60 to 90 with higher than average exposure levels already. Their younger family members are allowed to visit them, but only for short periods of time.

Apparently, the G7 and UN are planning to pool resources to dump a massive amount of lead and concrete on ground zero, in case radiation is still seeping out and contaminating the land further.


It is devastating, disastrous, dangerous...and eerily breathtaking.

I know I have an obsession with the post-apocalyptic that can venture into a little obsessive...so I'm sorry if my randomness here disturbs anyone.

Doesn't it just fascinate and terrify you?
