I went on a little Transit Adventure today - to the Canadian Tire near Bessarion Station. It was my first time actually riding the Sheppard line. I've never had a reason to, before. The Sheppard line stations are actually surprisingly beautiful! Clean concrete, modern tile-work and even some interesting public art kicking around. Bessarion station itself is almost grand looking with very high ceilings and...

I'm sure it would be busier if it did something practical, like connecting to Downsview, then going up to York. But that would be too obvious. wink

The subway is running for about three more hours. I feel like I should go somewhere to inaugurate this new Metropass! Or just ride around for a while.

Instead I'll probably drink wine and watch the Firefly DVDs.

Today I felt like a serious yuppie. Suit, tie, overcoat, nice scarf, shiny shoes - getting off at Yonge and Eglinton.

What's weird is how comfortable that felt.

When there's no other noise in the apartment, no tv, walking, radio, I can just barely hear the subways rumble by below me.

Its actually sort of comforting. It's a deep guttural rumble at the edge of hearing. It's almost subsonic, and very pretty.

A reminder that there's life out there.

As I sit among the disassembled furniture and boxes full of books that litter my room, I have only one regret about leaving Guelph.

I should have rented a bigger truck.

They say there are two things that strain even the best relationship: wallpapering together, and the Ikea experience. These have apparently lead to screaming matches, silence, even divorce in more than a few couples.

I've never actually tried the former. The latter was attempted over the weekend, with success. The secret is to have a goal in mind. In this case, a couch and a...

excellent. i do enjoy wine, especially of the white variety. i'll be in BC from the 11th to 29th, so perhaps when i return?

i prefer to assemble my ikea furniture solo. that way no one can see me so entirely weakend and frustrated by those crazy swedes.

9 days until the big move. It's amazing how much stuff one accumulates over the course of a couple of university degrees. Bookshelves, boxes of records, mountains upon mountain of notes and files that will probably never be looked at again. I'm getting nostalgic for stacks of paper!
oryx:
when i moved this summer, at the end of my degree, i recycled mountains of notes, papers, and mark sheets. it was very cleansing.

you know, if you'd like a print, i might just be able to arrange some in-person delivery action...

Horrah! I pick up a new suit today! Black, modern-cut two-button number. I like a little vanity, and this thing pulls it off well.
oryx:
nice! is this suit for a special event?
oryx:
you know, with the exception of a few things, it really does seem that way. it's kinda nice.

Today was an adventure in sharpness. I have the bad combination of really sensitive fair skin, and really dark, hard hair. (The downside of celtic blood.) This has, understandably, always made shaving a pain in the ass.

I go through razor blades like water, and use really nice Body Shop and Aveda shave creams, aftershave, etc. But still, I've always ended up with a little...
