Had a conversation earlier with someone about the fact that I don't believe in anything. She was convinced that, I quote, "everyone has to believe in something." She finally grudgingly let me off with the cheap cop-out, "I believe in myself."
Part of my nature is to question everything. I'm fine with something not having a sufficient explanation, as I have no problems coming...

This is the Faithful Steed. As you can see, a hybrid he ain't.
My math really isn't all that screwy. 25 psi @ 2000 RPM is 12.5 psi per 1000 RPM. 27 psi @ 3400 RPM is 7.9 psi per 1000 RPM. So in this case, 25 is higher than 27.

A typical gauge package in lieu of idiot lights in a typical vehicle is water temp, oil pressure, and volts. Sometimes you get an ammeter instead of a voltmeter. My truck came stock with an ammeter, water temp, and oil pressure.
While I like gauges, I'm not a big fan of ones that read C to H, L to H, or D to C. That is why I replaced the stock Chevrolet ones with AutoMeters. I also added a tach, vacuum, oil temp, and a voltmeter. So the only stock gauges in my dash are the speedometer & the gas gauge.

the 2005 Nobel laureate is a pretty cool guy. Likes his booze, apparently, especially on hiking trips. Not to mention contributing to the fact that one of the Cornell faculty members is no longer allowed in a certain national park. =)
Also, brilliant guy. Some of the stuff he's been telling us about is pretty cool, in the "What the hell made you think to...

That wasn't dancing at all, we were playing a game on the eye toy where we had to scratch virtual records. If you listen closely to the video, you can hear the scratching.
How fabulous that you've had the chance to meet Nobel Laureates!

I noticed your comment on the UpstateSGNY board about a Syracuse event. After linking over I was perusing your journal. What are you working on in grad school?
I've been thinking about grad school alot lately. I was a dual major BS Biology and BA Philosophy. It was pretty awesome, although there isn't much you can do with either major. I went to medical school for a year and got kicked out because I failed a bunch of things (I had mono and went on anti-depressants - the politics of medical school don't care though).
Anyways, what do you do in your lab? I'm currently working in a wet chemistry lab in E. Syracuse. I hate it. LOL! I'm looking for new work and trying to decide what to do with my life. Any suggestions?
Thanks and Peace!

Ooooooh, that actually mesmerised me. I could stare at it for ages!

German, although German people would laugh at me if they heard me use it now.
I need to go back there for a couple of weeks and I'd be fine again.

Sometimes I think I should have been a philosophy major who's interested in science, instead of the other way around. There's really no way to go back once you've gone into hard science, though I intend to try and bridge the gap once I'm done with grad school/post-doc.

I changed my displayed name from d43vr1c because the numbers were driving me NUTS, and I don't want to use the normal version of that for SG, at least for a while, for professional reasons.
The name Rylhor was the name of my mage in WoW, and I've decided I really like it. I had originally wanted to name the mage R'llhor, after the firey...

I know a couple of other kids at Ithica right now. It's probably unlikely that you'd run into them though, they are in different departments.

There seems to be name-changing en-mass lately, for all sorts of reasons. I like your new one.

Ugh. I've been sick for a week and a half now.
On the bright side, I'm back in Ithaca. Hopefully I'll be able to walk up the hill. =P
I'm really not thinking clear enough to come up with any better of an entry. My cousin had a kid that I really wanted to see over break, but didn't get a chance, being sick and...

On the way to the concert on Sunday, I was having a conversation with my friend about the fact that people of certain geographical are able to distinguish between each other easier than those not from the area. The classic example is that white people (or maybe just Americans?) are often unable to distinguish between Japanese, Chinese, etc. As it happens, my friend is Romanian,...

Ah, but if you keep quiet, you'll keep 'em guessing--for a little while, anyway.
Back in Indy for the week. Feel like ass. I've been ignoring the fact that I'm sick (I've been running a fever since last Wednesday), and it's finally catching up to me.
On the bright side, the Children of Bodom/Chimaira concert rocked, though the 16 hours of driving between getting there and getting from there to home kinda sucked.
And now for something completely...

Hmmm... I've met a few great people by randomly talking to strangers when I was out having drinks with friends, but if you do that, you've got to run the risk of accidentally encouraging weirdos.
