Well, today I got to thinking about current popular music and how much it sucks. With all the Brittany Spears and Backstreet boys copycats out there my ears are starting to bleed. I should let those of you who read this know that I came to a revelation:

Lets start with where the music comes from: It's common knowledge that these pop music stars don't write their own music. Instead it is all done by a small number of professional songwriters, and then put to the MTV crapfest by a small number of choreagraphers. Now it seems to me that at lease ONE of these "professional songwriters" would be good...but they aren't. For the reason behind this, we'll have to dig deeper.

SO: lets go back to the "good old days" of my parents music. Long lasting stars and bands such as The Doors, Led Zepplin, The Beatles etc did write thier own songs. The only major difference is they did it while completely stoned. These "professional songwriters" are a bunch of stone cold sober talentless hacks.

>>>OK, at this point I would like to say that I am NOT an advocate for drugs. I don't do them myself, and I encourage everyone I know and everyone reading this to stay away from them. But when it comes to my entertainment, I suppose its allowable<<<

Need an example? Take the case of one Doug Ingle. In 1968 he spent hours in a drunken/stoned stupor writing what would be his masterpiece song. When he was asked the title of it, he was so slurred and numb tongued that he couldn't even pronounce the title of the song "In the Garden of Eden" which instead came out os "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". This song and album later became the record industrys FIRST ever platinum album. The rest, is history.

Need a more modern example? When you think of rock music today or the past 10-20 years, the most prominent name would likely be Metallica, and as you may have noticed, there has been a steady decline in the quality of thier music. The reason? Well, writer/vocalist James hetfield has been through a lot of rehab in an effort to drop his drug addiction. At the same time, Metallicas music got worse and worse. Coincidence? I THINK NOT. This decline and sobriety culminated with the decliration that he is now clean and sober as well as the release of the steaming pile of horse feces known as "St. Anger". Those of you who have heard this album will have to agree with me that we need to get this man back on cocaine NOW before things get worse.

In closing, the moral of the story kids is: JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS. Unless of course you are a professional musician or professional songwriter. In which case you should feel free to sacrifice your health and well being for our entertainment.
