i was having a conversation with a couple of people at work, and we came to realize something. Disney hates parents. almost all the main animated disney/pixar movies have themes with neglecting parents/dead parents, etc
observe:
Snow White: lives with her wicked step mother
Pinnocchio: got separated from his dad/gepetto. not to mention that i get a pedophile vibe from gepetto
Dumbo: he got separated from his mom
bambi: dads a neglecting asshole, mom got shot (spoiler!!
)
Cinderella: wicked step mother
alice in wonderland: she "ran away" because her parents were too strict
peter pan: the kids ran away from responsibility from parents (this of course isnt really the parents fault but the kids for being brats lol)
lady and the tramp: parents were actually depicted well in this one, although the aunt was a bitch
sleeping beauty: parents drugged her and left her in an old castle somewhere
101 dalmations: puppies get kidnapped from parents
sword in the stone: he was an orphan
jungle book: mowgli gets separated from his parents as a baby and raised by wolves and later a singing bear and an panther with a stick up his ass
aristocats: single mom
robin hood: irrelivant with robin, but there was that rabbit lady single mom with all the kids
winnie the pooh: meh, not really addressed
rescuers: little girl is an orphan living with a crazy old lady who uses her to steal shit
fox and the hound: the fox gets separated from his parents (were they shot by the hunter? i diont remember)
black cauldron: im not sure. havent seen it in years and ionly saw it once
great mouse detective: little girls father was kidnapped by villains
oliver and company: he was an orphan
little mermaid: single dad who was kinda an asshole at first
rescuers down under: orphan boy lives out in the middle of the outback with a giant bird
beauty and the beast: single dad who was a little crazy. beast was a stuck up prick, probably partly due to bad parenting
aladdin: street rat who was orphaned. jasmin had a single dad... who was a little crazy
the lion king: dad was killed... plus... who was nala's dad??? incest going on on pride rock when simba hooks up with his sister. timon and pumbaa both outcasted from their societies
poccahontas: asshole dad who didnt approve of her daughters boyfriend. (fun fact: im directly related to the real poccahontas)
hunchback of notre dame: quasimodo was raised by a crazy religious guy
hercules: dad abandoned him to humans (and if we want to get down to real greek methology... with zeus as dad... thats some fucked up paternal shit)
mulan: parents were overly controlling
tarzan: tarzans parents were killed when we was a baby and he was raised by gorillas
dinosaur: i never saw it
emperors new groove: i never saw it
atlantis: i dont remember much about it
lilo & stitch: parents died, lilo raised by sister.
treasure planet: single mom. he ran away to hang out with space pirates
brother bear: i dont remember
home on the range: you cant pay me to watch that pile of shit
chicken little: didnt see it
meet the robinsons: orphan
bolt: didnt see it
princess and the frog: didnt see it
toy story: single mom
bugs life: ehh, didnt really come up
toy story 2: see above
monsters inc: little girl gets separated from her parents and stays with monsters
finding nemo: mom died when he was an egg, later gets separated from his dad
the incredibles: mom and dad had marital problems
cars: do cars have parents? how do they breed????
ratatouille: his whole family didnt agree with his lifestyle
wall-e: robots... dont really matter
up: little boy's dad is mentioned as not attentive
toy story 3: single mom
ive left some out.,.. but u get the picture. granted most of these stories are based on fables, fairie tales, mythology, and even history... so its not entirely disneys fault... but DAMN thats a lotta parental issues.
I blame disney for the declining parenting skills in this country over the last century. (not really)
i just got bored and thought this was funny enough to blog about.
hope everyone is well!
