I got this app on my iphone called Lose It!, and i think its gonna be really good for me, to help me lose weight. It sets you up on a program, where first it asks what you weigh now, and then what your ideal weight is. Then it asks how many pounds you'd like to lose every week, and based on that, it sets u up with a budget for your calorie intake.
From there, on a daily basis, i just have to log everything i'm eating, and it figures out how many calories i took in. It's not exact unfortunately, because they dont have all brand names, and its hard to figure it out with home cooking, so you kinda have to select general food terms. Like, instead of Oscar Meyer bolgona, i would have to just choose 'bologna, thin cut', or 'thick cut' or whatever. I mean, they have oscar meyer, but thats just an example. I can add custom food too, where i can manually enter in the product name and calories and serving size, etc, so over time it'll become more accurate.
anyways, then you can add in exercises, and it tells you how many calories you've burned that day. So far, i havent really exercised yet, and ive gone over my budget on calories (not by too much), but once i get myself into a routine, things will get better i'm sure. Today, i didnt go over my budget, so theres a start!.
If you weigh yourself daily, and input the figure daily, it'll track how much weight you gain or lose.
Most people dont like counting calories, but i look at it this way: i work with numbers everyday at my job, all day, every day, so this is just more numbers for me to work with. So anyways, wish me luck!
