My cat Max is dying. He's always had a healthy little belly, but the last few weeks, he's lost so much weight, he feels so skeletal. My dad called me up last night before i went to work and said it would be a good idea to come by today to say goodbye, because he probably wont be aorund much longer. it seems hes not eating much, and not drinking much, and he seems to be having trouble hearing and seeing now, which is pretty sudden. the last time i saw him, he seemed very weak, but alert

I'm obviously very sad about this, especially since it's kinda sudden, but at the same time, i knew it would happen this year or next, because he's amost 17 years old, which is old for a cat.

i remember when we first got him, he was a kitten, this was when pet stores still sold cats, instead of the adoption agencies selling them at pet stores. the day after we got him, i told my mom to bring him with her when she picked me up from school, and when she got there, he wasnt there. i asked her why she didnt bring him, and she started crying. She told me that when she was bringing him into the car, he jumped out, and she didnt see where he went, so she thought he was gone. So i started crying too. Then as we were driving home, we heard him meow. i guess he just hid under the car seat. But we only had him one day, and we already loved him enough to cry over losing him. This was when i was 10. I'm 26 now. He's been with us for a long time.

i'm gonna miss him

he isnt gone yet, but i just felt i needed to post about him now

I know how you feel. When I was born my mom had 2 cats. They were apart of the family. when they died at 22 It was a very sad day. I now have 2 cats and if something happened to them I would be devastated. They truly become part of the family. I'm sorry. frown

My mom felt the same way when her 2 cats passed away. In about 6 months though she felt that she was ready to adopt 2 more. It was hard at first.
