Blog homework: What seemingly small or inconsequential event changed your life in a major way?

That is an easy question! Going to my friend's wedding this past fall. I found out she was getting married several months before the wedding and immediately said I was going. I RSVP'ed the day I got the invite. I am not a person who jumps into social events, I am introverted and shy, I am apprehensive about such things. However, my friend is such a cool lady and I met her at tech school, we clicked and hung out all the time, I knew there was no way I was going to miss her wedding!

Now, I was going regardless of having a date or not. A date would've just been a plus. Many of you already know that I had a date, someone from this site, and plans fell through on the day he was to fly out. I honestly wasn't that upset, bummed sure, but I always prepare for the worst. That was the worst in that situation, my date cancelling on the day he was supposed to come out [wasn't his fault: bad weather, delayed flights]. So, off I went to the wedding. It was 2 hours away so I drove in the day before and went home the day after the wedding. A short weekend away.

I went to the wedding with a girl friend of mine, also from tech school. We had a good time. Later in the night I saw the bride's [my friend] cousin and remembered him from past parties I went to. We caught each other's gazes, I smiled at him and he immediately came to talk to me. We played catch up, it had been a few years, and he stuck to me, wouldn't leave my side. He was persistent without being offensive. Instead of letting him drive 2 hours back home at 2am, I offered to let him stay in my hotel room. They upgraded me to 2 beds anyways.....we didn't use both beds 😁

And that was that! Now he and I are in a relationship, we've been almost inseparable since the wedding. I love him so much, with all my heart. He is good to me, opens the car door for me [who does that anymore?!], he's so affectionate and caring, he protects me [not to be confused with being protective], and he's amazing in bed. I can't believe how lucky I am to be able to call him my boyfriend.

So, something as simple as going to a wedding, last minute no date, no expectations, has lead to being in a fantastic relationship.
