I worked my ass off on an entry for Gorillaz Search for a Star contest and I didn't get it finished in time. Now I'm wondering whether I should tweak it and release it on my own, or just scrap the whole thing. As a standalone piece it isn't all that great, but compared to the other Search for a Star crap it is awesome.

I thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was really entertaining. I'm glad they took out all the stupid songs. I didn't think Veruca was enough of a brat, and I didn't think Wonka was cruel enough. (That tacked on subplot with him being reunited with his estranged father....PLEASE! HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE DEVIL!) But the rest of the kids were great, especially Violet and Mike Teevee. And as one of my friends said, Deep Roy gets this year's award for hardest working man in show business.
But if one more person compares Johnny Depp's Wonka to Michael Jackson, I will shove a rabid wolverine down their pants.

tell you the truth, i'm just not that interested in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... i like Burton and Depp both quite a lot, and a guy i knew back in college even did the screenplay, but... it just doesn't look that exciting to me.
