Sometimes things work out in ways you cannot imagine. My good friends from Pennsylvania are here. We had arranged to meet for dinner as I was running around after the show getting things done and it was so much easier than going on the strip and picking them up.
The place we were going is very busy so I called when they opened and asked for a reservation. Valerie recognized my voice and said that she would get me in at 7 and not to worry. I knew what she was saying, we are busier than shit, you are a regular and you will get a table ahead of a walkin. She is a real sweetheart.
I had to go to the post office express and send out a package express mail. While I was there I figured that Valerie deserved some flowers and I bought one of their small arrangements. I am also diplomatic and since I do not know her dating status (she is 19 or 20) that walking in and giving the flowers to the hostesses and not being specific can get me into no trouble.
I got to the place early, opened the door and there was Valerie and Tiffany. Tiffany was one of my all time favorite people there. She is about Valeries age, worked there part time as she had a full time job, but left in October because it had become too much for her, doing both jobs. I had asked about her and found that about once a month she came in for dinner. About a month ago I saw a very familar face, helping set a table for dinner, then sitting at it, it was Tiffany. She was having dinner with her boyfriend and I said hello on my way out.
Tiffany was working there again, they asked her back to fill in weekend shifts over the next few weeks with vacations. When I opened the door my jaw dropped, the last person I ever expected to see there was Tiffany. The last day she worked I gave her flowers and told her that I would miss her. She has one of those smiles that just warm your heart and has always been able to turn my day around just by seeing her smile. She is one of a very few people that can do that for me, and that is why she is so special.
I stuttered and stammered and said the flowers were for the girls. Tiffany said, no they were hers for her birthday and thank you very much. Valerie knew the flowers were for her but also knows that I have a special part of my heart for Tiffany.
Dinner was a disaster, my favorite waiter screwed up royally, but I didnt care. I saw one of my favorite people and life was and is good at times.
