I should be working but need some time to clear the head. This year has been difficult for all of us. The economy has hurt us all and the stress it has caused on me is finally starting to lift. I have watched good people lose their jobs because they were at will employees, a wonderful legacy of the Ronnie Rayguns legacy where you can be let go for any reason or no reason at all. A friend of mine lost his job a few weeks ago because he was overheard making a joke after work in the parking lot. It was a hack job, they trumped up the fervor with a whispering campaign about his sexuality so that when it was to go to review committee so no one would defend him, all his witnesses called in sick that day. They did screw up, someone was so stupid that they left their defamation in a voice mail, and she was the person who started it all, she got the phone number from her husband who works in personnel. OOPS.
He went to the review, smiled when the fake drama played out and then played the voice mail to the horror of the head of personnel and the accuser. My friend said see you in court, as only personnel had both pieces of information, do I say my friend will get his day in court.
Today I have too much to do. I am listening to TV, not watching more listening. I guess having something on in the background goes back to when I was a kid and hated being home alone and was punished by making me do my homework alone at home and if they found that I had turned on the TV or radio I would get a spanking. I could not concentrate, I finally did my arithmetic homework only to find my parents had never left but were hiding in the living room watching me do my homework.
There is some snow outside, not much just enough to make the car covered with snow.
There are some really good people here. A lot of them are sharing their daily lives good and bad here, they struggle with work, school, love lives, and how to pay their next phone bill.
