Last week had some very stressful times. I called a friend and we got into a heated discussion on freedom of speech, he is fully in favor of it as long as the speech agrees with his point of view, but if it does not agree with it he becomes incensed. A friend for years, I hung up on him and do not plan on calling him, not for a long time. He is pro life and says that the murder of the the doctor last week as a direct result of Obama giving a speech at Notre Dame, like WTF. He believes that since the bishops in 2004 declared people who are pro choice to be basically the devil, OK, but the last time I checked the Pope was the head of the church and not some group of Bishops.
But since he spoke my friend told me, it has cost Notre Dame millions in contributions, I said OK, so what. The head of the University invited the President of the United States to speak, and if people do not agree with his views on one item, they can vote for someone else. But no, my friend thinks Obama was there to insult the church.
The same board of the University had the balls to say they were not going to give him an honorary degree because he had not done anything yet. WTF, the people that have gotten their honorary degrees, how many of them have been elected President of the United States. Most of them are business leaders, but not one of them lived in the White House, I think that is something pretty special.
I am a lapsed Catholic, I do not agree with some of their policies which I think are created in a vacuum. Why should a bunch of guys that probably never been laid tell me how to conduct my sex life, with no basis in religion. They attack anyone who is pro choice, but not one of them has taken their large scale attack against any of the drug manufacturers who sell birth control pills. I guess the fact they would be crushed like a bug is the reason.
