I've decided to get into roller derby. Not only do I need to get back into shape, but I miss being part of a team. Unfortunately, I haven't roller-skated in 15 years.
Today, I went alone to a skating rink (creepy, I know) and tried it out... it wasn't so bad. I only lost my balance when I thought about it too hard. I fell three times, but an hour into it, there were so many little kids skating and wiping out that it was only a matter of time before I hurt one of them!
My first fall I landed on my hip, so that didn't hurt at all. The second fall I twisted my knee as I fell forward. The THIRD fall involved being airborne & falling backwards... with me landing on my hand. That freaking hurt. I don't think I sprained it, but it's definitely sore. To top everything off, as I was sitting and putting on my sneakers, some little kid rolled up, wiped out by falling back onto his behind, and kicked me in the shin with his skate. At least I have a whole new appreciation for protective gear (which was safely in my trunk, I mite add).
Tuesday I'm supposed to meet up with the Penn-Jersey team to practice... hopefully they don't laugh their asses off at me.

Why go by yourself? I just went inline skating at an indoor rink just yesterday... Anytime you'd like to do some laps with me and some friends, let me know...
