As I was leaving Kwik Trip, I started the car and Volbeat's song Seal The Deal started playing. Some young guy says "boomers don't listen to rock" and I replied "I ain't no boomer, kid. I'm Gen x." I cranked the stereo and left.

The dude was most likely gen Z and I've seen other accounts of them not knowing the difference. To some of them, anyone with grey hair is a boomer. ...forgotten again. :) To be fair, I have worked with a couple zen Z that were impressed that I listen to modern rock at work (and not classic rock).
