So, I was writing out an update, when I decided to go out to dinner. I came back an hour later and *poof!* - my laptop has vanished, along with my ipod and ps2. As I discovered this, I went through a barrage of emotional states: disbelief, suspicion, anger, back to disbelief, back to anger, self-admonishment, self-pity, rationalization, one more swing back to anger, and finally acceptance (actually anger came back again, but that was later and directed at the police officer who gave me an enthralling 15-minute lecture about responsibility).
All things considered, I don't really mind the financial loss ($1800!). Hopefully that will be covered by insurance. What really irks me is the loss of everything on my hard drive of sentimental value, that is all my writings, photos, music, compositions, various hard-to-find pirated things, and all the other stuff that's accumulated over the years and collectively sketches a portrait of my personality and its development.
So please! If you love your hard drive, then show it that you care... BACK IT UP!
That is all.
