So last night was it. Today a new chapter begins...but of course last night had to end with a strange bang.
~A 37yrd woman is brought in by the local sheriffs office after having an altercation with them. She's been of her psych meds for some time and is suicidal and homicidal. From the time she's in the ER she is in four point restraints and shouting bible verses, spitting on the staff and cursing anyone who walks by the room. She calms down and is taken out of her restraints. The nurse asks me to escort her to the bathroom in a wheelchair. I escort her and she is VERY vocal about how she demands privacy and will be in the restroom by herself with "NO man seeing her naked" Of course this is after she uses and bedside comode in the hallway because someone was in the restroom and she refused to wait. So she goes and while sitting back in the wheelchair she asks if we have a Bible in the ER for her to read. I tell her that I don't know. The conversation is as follows.
Me "i'm not really sure if we have a Bible here for you to read"
Her "How dare you all deny god's word in this hospital?! How can you not know if there is a Bible in this ER?"
Me "Well mame I'm a Buddhist so I honestly wouldn't know"
Her "What is this! You worship a rat you devil. A Damn buddhist working here."
At this point I return her to her room where she stands at the door screaming at the top of her lungs.
"You worship a rat you dog buddhist! You look like a Buddah!"
So some time pass and the end of my shift is near. She's being shipped off to a mental health facility and as she is being wheeled by me in the wheelchair she turns to me and says, "I'm sorry. I apologize to Buddah."
What a way to end a night.
