Monday night I left home to buy dinner and came home with flowers.

Last night I watched a western movie and played a sci-fi game.

Tonight I'm putting together an argument for my lecturer that comics and graphic novels are a legitimate form of writing and something I should be able to use as my final piece of assessment before graduating at the end of the year.

I've been getting the run around from this guy for about a month now. Today would have been about the 4th time he's either bailed at the last minute, or not shown up.

I've had a few ideas to fall back on from other projects. Strongest one so far is a memoir/essay about the importance of escapism with focus on the influence that Batman has had on my life since age 8. I've been working on it for a while now and it's been fun, and a little creepy so far. It started when I was told I couldn't carry on my comic through uni after working on it there for a year, and I basically went into creative withdrawal and spent a fortune on books, movies, comics, video games, anything where I could lose myself in a character who wasn't mine. Writing this would be a bizarre form of poetic justice, as I would write about the creative withdrawal into escapism and basically be making my lecturer mark an essay on himself being a jerk.

EDIT: I'd like to respectfully withdraw my comment regarding my lecturer being a jerk. He really went from stonewalling me to being incredibly encouraging and approved my story in the first few minutes of our meeting.

glad to know that I'm not the only person that Batman has made an influence on biggrin

I think that's a legit argument. There are A LOT of graphic novels that tell amazing stories that wouldn't be half as interesting if it weren't for the illustrations.
