I'm not actually sure who this post is addressed to, it's just for the sake of being less of a stranger.

At this point I think I'm best introduced by the state of my writing/drawing desk. I've heard some people say that they can't work until their space is tidy, those people are procrastinating.

The top row of posters from the left contains the three main characters I'm writing at the moment as well as my muse in the middle, she's the only one you can in her entirety of even if it's tiny.

Underneath that (from the left still) is my guitar. It's a Cort 12 string that I've had the action lowered on and tuned to C# so it plays beautifully.

Next to its headstock (under a big badge holding pics and a capo) is a pack of 24 party bubbles. BUBBLES! Then a stack of books consisting of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For 2 A5 sketch pads and a dictionary. Next a pack of blu-tac and my lamp which I use to see by and for my tracing board next to the desk.

Next row there are the headphones my sister gave my for my 21st recently as well as some coloured notes and card board cut outs (you can see some of these posted to the head of the desk, which was once the head of my bed but my new apartment already had plans for where my mattress would go so my bed frame had to become something else).

Lowest row starts with some loose sheets used to create the autobiographical comic on my livejournal of the same username. It's not meant to be anything flash, just a more interesting way of communicating with mates. The yellow sketchbook contains random drawings designed to tighten up some weak points in drawing, as well as severalTrogdors. Beside that is the back of a sketchpad that has become the base of many other drawings and has taken up much of their ink overflow. Left again is the notebook that currently contains the skin and bones of my story as I plan it out, make notes and random story fragments. Then there's the little red book, which went literally everywhere with me for nigh on three years so I always had somewhere to put my thoughts etc.

The wall to the left of all this is much bigger than the photo gives it credit for. The two black things to its top left are the boots of a cyborg in a tattoo design my sister had me do for her. She didn't end up getting the tattoo which I'm quietly appreciative of. Not long after any drawing I think I could have done it better and want to touch it up, if that were a tattoo I'd be kind of stuck with it for life, and with my sister, it'd on a person I'd be in contact with for the rest of my life. I've designed tattoos before but they were fairly basic so I didn't have to stress too much, but she wanted an original piece based on her descriptions so it was kind of nerve wrecking. Next to that is a picture of Johnny Depp reminding me that "time is precious/ use it wisely." Then a photoshop job I did of Missy Higgins with wings and in the middle of echoing circles. Finally the photo on that wall is of Bryan Talbot (writer illustrator of Alice in Sunderland, The Tale of One Bad Rat and illustrator of some stories of The Sandman) and myself at the Brisbane writers festival.

And that's my desk as it sat this morning. I've tried to let it speak for me on its own but my bias probably snuck in there somewhere.
