I liked Audition, the slow pace was necessary to make the ending so taught, but agreed its not your typical Mike fare.
Have you seen ATale of Two Sisters? a really visually beautiful film & more intelligent than most.

Tale of Two Sisters is Korean, that & Phone are the only Korean films ive seen. Phone is pretty bad
