Not really one for "celebrity" programming but watched Ulrikakakakakakakakakakakakakaah!!!!!'s Sex Addicts thing on Ch4, eye opener. They really aught to tackle the name for a start. "Sex Addict" makes it sound tawdry and sordid; the sort of thing an aged Hollywood star might need to check into a clinic for. ' Intimacy Disorder' has a much better ring to it.

Thing is, 'addiction', can't most people's fears/behaviour etc be held as symptoms for some form of addiction or another? Just seems a little generic. I'm sure if you put a pin into a random page of a book which outlines all known addictions/disorders you'd 9 out of 10 say that that is you.

Maybe I suffer from a Cynic's Disorder?

Anyway, sex addicts....

.... or people with intimacy issues..? I could see some of my behaviour in what they described but suspect that most people can tick some of those same boxes (unless you're abnormally normal) so does that make me a sex addict or just suffering from a general malaise of modern Western society borne of our obese comforts? The cynic in me just thinks that it's the product of navel gazing, over indulgant self-absorbtion or maybe I really do need to get on the 12 steps.
