Alright...what the heck happened?

The weekend did not go much as planned. The one thing that went off did so flawlessly and the rest of the time was pretty much crap. We did, in fact, go to John King Books in Detroit which saw me walking away with five books that I'm very excited about reading. One, Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury, is actually a re-read for me. There was at least once great lit teacher in my high school, and she had us read this one. I remember being the only one in the class that really loved it and the ideas for which it stood. I suggest anyone here read either that, or The Illustrated Man by Bradbury this summer. There's really nothing not to like about either or these books, and I really think their ideas speak to a crowd like this, and by that I mean a bit more intelligent than average.

The Comic Con didn't see me in it's full color nerd glory. We did end up going to Ann Arbor immediately after the bookstore, which was pointless if you ask me. Buffalo Wild Wings was apparently the bar of choice, which irked me only because we can go to that place anytime while at home. There is one located almost literally next door to my friend's house. After only spending an hour there, the guys wanted to just get beer and go sit in my friends Ann Arbor apartment and drink. I was appalled. It was the first night in weeks that we would have been able to be comfortable while out, walking around the in the cool air with only light jackets on and going to places we just didn't have access to at home. Perhaps you can see my disappointment.

On top of that, I'm unfortunately still without any personal vehicle, so I'm at the mercy of other people's wheels. The ones I had commissioned to take me to the Comic Con ended up backing out last minute for a number of reasons. Basically I spent Sunday watching tv in Ann Arbor, waiting for another friend to give me a ride back home. Had I known, I would have prepared with bus tickets or something a bit more...self-reliant.

Aside from the books, another good thing did come out of the trip to Detroit. If you're ever in the Cork Town area (basically near the MGM Grand Casino) I suggest you look up a sandwich shop called Eph McNally's. The food served is monstrous and a worthy adversary to any hungry person, including vegetarians. Some of you may also remember my quest for a new hoodie, the idea being to find one that spoke to me a bit more than the one I did have, which had a band on it I never listened to. I completed this quest at Eph's with the purchasing of a "Cork Town" hoodie. I attempted to take a pic of it with my new phone, but I'm having issues sending and recieving video and pics right now, so once that get's resolved, I shall post the results.

ARRR!!!
