Well, that was a fun weekend. I suppose I should probably write about it. I can feel the UK end of the SG already groaning under the weight of journal entries about Reading. I only actually went on the saturday, never got round to buying a ticket for the full weekend and, well, pretty much all the bands I really wanted to see were playing on the saturday anyway. Plus, I don't do camping well. If you unplug me from the sweet, synthetic, fiber-optic teat of Mother Internet for too long I get a funny twitch in my left eye and start stabbing people in the knees.

But yeah, it was awesome, I met a whole bunch of nifty people in the morning, who all seemed lovely for a bunch of pervs I met off a porn site eeek before going on to meet old stalwarts munch and noscar.

No Comply: Funny thing, I got Windmills Turning In Wrong Directions after seeing them play live but never really got into it, but I still love to watch them live. A real storming little live act, NO-ONE should have that much energy that early in the day.

The Explosion: HELL FUCKING YES. These guys were one of the reasons I came and I wasn't disappointed.I enjoyed them a lot more than I did at the Warped Tour in San Francisco, but that might well be to having gotten to know the album a lot more since then. The circle pit was huge too biggrin

Juliette Lewis And The Licks: CAN SUCK MY HAPPY-SACK TILL THEY CHOKE ON MY PUBES

Seriously, shouting out things like 'Let's turn this shit up mother-fucker' doesn't make you Rock and Roll. You actually need to have some decent music there first. Granted, it was fun to watch her prance around in some sort of leather playsuit for a few minutes, but the novelty wears off.

Capdown: Argh, too crowded. By this point Reading was just way too rammed with people. Still, Capdown were fucking ace, I didn't know them that well beforehand, but I think I'm going to be checking them out after this.

The Dwarves: Great fun. I'd never heard of He Who Must Not Be Named before so the naked guy in the Luchadore mask kind of threw me. Granted, I'd only heard one track before, but I was expecting them to be a lot more vicious and the pit to be a lot more aggressive. Can't say I'm complaining. Seemed weird not to have Nick Oliveri on bass though.

Be Your Own Pet: They had me at 'This next song is about zombies'

Rise Against: Forget Foo Fighters or Bad Religion. THIS was the main event for me and I damn sure wasn't disappointed. I liked their set, I've always preferred Siren Song of the Counter Culture to The Unravelling and Revolutions Per Minute, and I'm sure I'm missing something, but the only older songs they played were 'Like The Angel' and 'Black Masks and Gasoline' which is just fucking fine with me. The energy from the crowd was awesome, it was great to see every fist in the air, screaming back the lyrics of 'Anywhere but here' at the singer.

At this point I started to do what I always do: my energy levels start dropping because I'm not being constantly entertained and I get really fucking crotchety. Plus, the head-splitting sinus headache from the cigarette and joint smoke didn't help. I ended up wanting to wander round at random, find some fucker smoking and stove their head in with something made of pig iron. I decided that was probably it for me and I cut and run early, missing out on Bad Religion. A shame, but I kind of expected this to happen anyhow, and it meant I had no problems getting home early.

Sunday was my day of rest, seeing as how it's the Lord's day and all. Naturally.

Monday was mostly spent at the pub. Big shocker there. Met a few buddies in camden then spent the next 8 or so hours drinking. I would ahve felt quite girly, sitting in Henry J Beans sipping my French Martini, were it not for the fact that thenonstopdancer panicked when told they had no minet for his Mojito and ordered a 'Lemon Cookie'. Bwahahahaha.

And now, well, straight back into the thick of things at work. I have a horrible suspicion I unwittingly helped a teenager fake pregnancy today.

Hahahahaha that's hilarious biggrin

I liked the safety warning too, there were a few in the zoo for other animals, but none quite so brutally trampling on the stick man smile
