Well, it's been a long, long week, and kind of weird too. I should have realised this was going to be the case when, on monday, I had a conversation with my library manager about the LGBT history month display we had up. Just to make things clear, my manager is a middle-aged married asian man with all the common sense of a plank.

ME: So we need to actually take the LGBT display down now. The history month is over and we've got about 3 other displays waiting to go up.
BOSS: Yes, yes, I know, but I don't want to take it down just yet.
ME: Why? Have we had orders from up on high to keep it up longer or something?
BOSS: What?
ME: Sigh... have you been told by upper management to keep it up longer?
BOSS: No. I just, you know... I know about gays... and lesbians... and things.. and I, you know... like what they do...
ME: Umm... right...

Also, I got sent to another library where I ended up looking after a kid with learning difficulties doing work experience. That was bloody ahrd work, I'll tell you that, but she was kinda sweet, she ended up telling me 'Are you coming back? I hope so cause you're my favourite, I like you' which cheered me up somewhat.

Also, I ended up spending a while weeding through the really old stock we have in our store room and we've got the weirdest fucking books in there, I'll tell you that.

Meteorology for Hang-Gliders
Installing and Operating your own Service Lift
A 44-colume set of the complete works of Lenin
A 20-year-old traveller's guide on how to speak Zulu

Then there was this weekend. On the saturday I had a gig at the Brixton Academy, Bouncing Souls and Dropkick Murphys. I'd been looking forwards to this one for ages so it was a bit disappointing that it was one of those gigs where half the entire audience appeared to be great, towering fuckwits. Bouncing Souls were awesome, and the crowd was a bit thinner for them, but once the Dropkicks started we just seemed to be surrounded by utter twats, including one guy who seemed to want to get extremely intimate with my crotch, judging by the way he kept trying to barge me up against the barrier.. I was also highly tempted to cripple some guy who tried to jump off the barrier (and just to clarify, this is the one halfway up the venue, not the one at the front) by elbowing his foot off the rail. So yeah, the bands were great, but we really should have had the sense to move further back or something.

Yesterday was much better, I went with munch to go see No Comply at The Garage. Muchy smaller venue, much nicer crowd. The support act, Adequate 7, were pretty damn good as well, and I'd recommend looking them up if you get a chance. Now I'd never really heard No Comply much before going to see them, but I'm pretty sure I'm a fan now. Great music, and most of the band seem to be completely batshit crazy, judging by the way they go hell-for-leather across the stage.

So... Yeah... How you doin?

Geek news alert: The young Grand Moff Tarkin in Episode Three is being played by none other than Wayne Pygram who plays Scorpius in Farscape. Oooooh - geektastic. I reckon he's a good choice biggrin

"Installing and Operating your own Service Lift"

So that's where I went wrong... If only I'd read the book.

*sigh*
