Well I had a spiffy weekend. It started off on friday when I spent the afternoon showing catcher round Camden and watching him scamper about gleefully and damn near wet himself with excitement as he stepped into Cyberdog. Awww, tourists are so cute
Later on I trundled over to Chez munch's to meet him and Doplex for a night of no drinking and DVDs. I drank half a bottle of whisky and watched precisely zero DVDs. Although I did show them the pure, distilled insanity that is the end of Takashi Miike's Dead or Alive. That said, we had a spiffing good time shooting the breeze about nothing in particular and eating burnt frozen pizzas. I also now want a luchadore beanbag.
Then on the saturday I had a fantastic day at work. Someone got locked in the library's public toilet for two hours! And I got to break the door down! Sledgehammers were involved! W00t! Then after that I proceeded to Camden to celebrate Nadine's birthday. It was a damn fun time, a very happy vibe to it. We drank in the World's End till closing time, then some of us went to some industrial night upstairs at The Garage which, as someone remarked to me, looked like a goth school disco. Still, despite it not being my kind of music at all, I felt a pressing need to dance, which I did so with gusto. Now you have to understand, I almost never dance, and even when I do, it's all nervous, self-conscious tiny movements. Not like that night where I flailed around like a loon. So hurrah for that.
Also, I ened to mention some films that I tragically forgot to in the previous journal entry:
Kung-Fu Hustle: Stephen Chow's next film after Shaolin Soccer. a 1940's Kung-fu pastiche/comedy which looks like a Shaw Brothers film on crack? Yes please. Add fight choreography by Yuen-Wo Ping AND Sammo Hung and you've got good reason to be excited.
Trailer in crappy Windows format here.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: I have absolutely no idea how this one's going to turn out, but it looks promising. Should be a lot of fun.
Serenity: I only recently bought the boxed set of Firefly and it's one of the best TV shows I've seen in ages, I cannot for the life of me understand why it was cancelled. I cannot wait to catch this one, I long for more Mal, Wash and Jayne
"Psychics? I don't know, that just sounds like something out of science fiction to me."
"You live on a spaceship dear."
"... So?"
