I decided to do something slightly different this time round, rather than recount my not-too-eventful life (glowsticks, frottage and insulting members of the public aside) or write something intended to delight and amuse, I ahve decided that what the world really needs is to get excited about the same things I am. Yes, I am come amongst you all like the very paragon of good taste to tell you exactly what films you ned to get excited about this year, so you don't ahve to go to the bother of forming an opinion yourself.
Ong-Bak: a film only just getting it's Western release over here. Finally, a martial-arts film that doesn't go the Wuxia route with lots of wire-work and fights that don't feel like there's any real contact (although I like those films too, it must be said). This one's a Thai flick featuring many people getting hit really, really hard. Maanges to combine some amazing stuntwork (the aprt where the main guy drops into the splits and slides along the ground under a car is jaw-dropping) with very hard-hitting action Page of trailers here
Sin City: Based on the comics of the same name and co-directed by Frank Miller, the comic's creator, and Robert Rodriguez, the cast alone should be enough to get most people excited, it's got an insane amount of famous faces in there. However, I ddin't get really excited till I saw the trailer. Tell me, have you seen a more visually arresting trailer in ages? Plus I'm a sucker for a moody score.
Batman Begins: A bit of a geek's no-brainer. Looks like being a damn fine film, and should make up for the travesty that was Batman and Robin. I like the cast, I like what they're doing with it so far, should be fun.

So, any of you got any particular suggestions of your own? What're you guys most looking forwards to?
