Ho-hum, another week, another weekend. 5 more days of dealing with various freaks led to another few days of spending more than I intended getting drunker than I intended.

Friday night I went along to the Gin Panic gig at the International Student House and as soon as I was informed by the barmaid that my double Jack and Coke came to the princely sum of just 3, I knew I was home. Several hours later I was trying, and probably failing, to hold civilised conversation with people as I was having difficulty focussing on smaller objects like, you know, walls. Were Gin Panic good? I dunno. Maybe? I wasn't exactly in a state of mind conduicive to detailed musical analysis, even though I did have time to contemplate it on the tube back whilst concentrating ahrd on not vomiting.

Then saturday night I joined Doplex and Kinto for a nice, civilised drink on Upper Street. Well... when I say nice, civilised drink, I mean I arrived several hours after those two had started drinking and by this point Jeff was into full-on, drunken and randy Mecha0-Kinto mode, and was desperately trying to find some ladies malleable to his gallic charms. We ended up in a Moroccan restaurant, with Jeff dancing with the belly-dancer and wandering up and sitting down next to random Australian women and me and Lindsay sending text messages to partiallyblind comparing Ciel's sugar walls to Admiral Ackbar. We weren't exactly upstanding pillars of the community. I made my excuses and left early because, for some reason, seeing Danny from Hear'Say (remember them? Yeah, he was still grinning like a cunt in the bar like he does on TV, despite being a broken, soulless wreck of a man) in the bar I was forced into put me into an interminably foul mood.

Sunday was actually far more civilised, me, munch and a rather shame-faced doplex both went to Soho to see Oldboy at the Curzon and a damn fine film it was too. Twisted, intense, brutal, visually stunning, and had one of the best action set-piece I've seen in a long time. It comes highly recommended.

Yeah, I've checked out the PNAC website before. It is genuinely creepy stuff. The fact that Rumsfeld and Cheney are closely associated with it makes Bush's possible re-election even more frightening. That documentary was excellent and I'm glad that it was a completely unbiased view that showed people who don't know already (like the majority of us) that the American right-wing political agenda is every bit as frightening as anything the islamic fundamentalists have to throw at us. I can't wait for next week when they show us how much money the CIA threw at Bin Laden to get rid of the soviets form Afghanistan. Compulsory viewing for eveybody in the run up to the election.
