SGUK RULES

Have you just applied?

1. SGs get in straight away. If you are an SG, have applied and it's been a couple of days, by all means leave send me a message or something as I don't get automatically notified.

2. If it doesn't say UK in your profile, send me a message to let me know why you're applying. This is sgUK after all.

3. Everyone has to be vouched in by 2 existing members of SGUK.

4. How this works is several times a month, I will post a vouch thread in SGUK containing a list of everyone who has applied, leaving members free to say 'that guy's not a dick, let him in'

5. To get in you will need to have a profile picture, a blog, friends who aren't just SGs or Hopefuls and some reasonable level of activity on the site.

Why can't I just get in? Why so many rules?

SGUK is a very socially active group. Members are frequently arranging events, posting personal information, swapping contact details and the like. With this in mind, it's necessary for the comfort and safety of the members that there is some kind of barrier of entry, especially considering that we're all Internet perverts to begin with. No, it's not perfect, but until someone figures out how to read minds with a Firefox Plug-in, it's all we got. Basically all it comes down to is we want you to socialise to get into the group that's there for socialising.

But I'll never get in! How am I supposed to make friends with members?!

I sympathise, it must seem rather daunting being told you have to make friends before we'll let you in. It's unfortunate, but bitter experience has taught us that we need some basic barrier of entry for the protection of our members. I would recommend some of the following:

Join some groups corresponding to your interests. There's groups there ranging from Mixed Martial Arts to the iPhone. Be warned though, if somehow the only groups you can seem to take an interest in are the sex groups, we're going to form an opinion of you. I would suggest joining some of the UK-centric groups, such as:

SG Scotland
UK Politics
Brit-Coms
Soccer- Football- Futbol

Also, start a conversation with UK-based members in threads on the boards like this one. It can seem a bit daunting talking to strange people on the Internet, but most of us are all jolly nice people, leave a comment in their journal, say hello, that sort of thing.

I'm already in SGUK

Aah, well, in that case, I've got some more rules for you:

1. Banter and verbal sparring is to be expected, but you will treat fellow members with respect. No hate speech, racism, sexism, hot spicy prejudice, I would hope all this is obvious.

2. Do not use this group to harass, pursue or creep out the female members or SGs. If you do this I will not just remove you from the group, but may message SG staff to petition to have you removed from the site altogether.

3. Do NOT bring any members who have previously been kicked out or zotted from SGUK to a meet. They were kicked out for a good reason. Doing this, or anything else that might endanger the safety of a memebr or SG at a meet, and I will come down on you like the hammer of Thor.

4. No '100 facts about me', no email forwards, no stupid fucking 'which Backstreet Boy are you?' quizzes. That can all be placed in the 'Webshite' thread.

5. No hopeful spamming. The horrible downside to the Member Review system is the creation of, quite frankly, a group of horrendous, attention-hungry pandering harridans, intent on pushing their nudey pictures so far down your throat you'll be shitting bad tattoos for months. There is a thread in SGUK where you can promote your sets in MR, keep it in there.

6. Attempt to start a thread about how awesome Twilight is, books or film, or for the discussion thereof, and I zot you.
