Well, I finally did my wrapping and card-writing (I LIVE for the last minute, beeyatch) and I'm finally starting to get into the Christmas spirit. This is partly because of the admittedly unusual holiday soundtrack of Mighty, Mighty Bosstones and Asian Kung-Fu Generation (look for them in a Big Poppa Creamy's Audio Goodness update soon) and partly because of the Jack Daniels (Christmas Eve is traditionally one of the rare, rare occasions when I drink in a non-social environment).

So I'm somewhat blattered and feeling festive. I smell some testimonials coming on!

Season's greetings you horrible bastards, and may the day bring you happiness.

Now, I know I promised you a Punk-Rock Christmas in my last update, but unfortunately I'm going to have to break that promise. Most of the tracks I found were extraordinarily bad quality or they were by Simple Plan. And quite frankly, I just don't hate you all enough for that. So instead I'm going to go even better.

Big Poppa Creamy's Audio Goodness: 100% Super-Crazy Ultra-Japan Edition!

Yes boys and girls, for Christmas this year I'm giving you all the greatest gift of all, a bumper-sized dose of crazy Japanese people.

Electric Eel Shock - Do The Metal: The first track tonight is by Electric Eel Shock, a Japanese rock band notorious for playing in the buff. Quite. Do The Metal is an old-fashioned, balls-out Rock and Roll track that demands you listen to is whilst screaming down the highway in some sort of convertible with it's fuzzy, squealing guitars and machine-gun bass. It's helped along by the exuberant yelling of the lead singer and his simplistic, but infection 'ROCK AND ROLL!' attitude.

The Mad Capsule Markets - MIDI Surf: There's something I want you all to realise. Mad Capsule Markets are not a band. They are, in fact, a full-blooded techno/metal/drum-and-bass kick to the face. MIDI Surf is the closing track to their (in my opinion superior) first album and perfectly embodies what they're all about. It's fast, furious, aggressive and doesn't let up till the end. I can only imagine their mosh pits.

Do As Infinity - Boukensha Tachi: Something a little more light-hearted for you now. this is a bouncy, infectious bit of J-rock/pop that rollicks along rather unoffensively. The lead singer sounds cute too.

Dokaka - Smells Like Teen Spirit: There are certain songs that you just don't cover. Smells Like Teen Spirit is one of them. However, professional Japanese Crazy Person Dokaka has found a rather... 'unique' angle for the song. I shan't say any more.

Ska Ska Club - Waiting On A Van: Next up we've got some Japanese Ska-Punk of the kind that was fashionable for about 5 minutes a while ago.Ska Ska club obviously didn't get the memo that trumpets weren't fashionable these days and thank God for it. Waiting On A Van is one of those songs that gets me bopping along in my chair without even wanting too. Unbelievably infectious, grin-worthy ska. Be right back, I'm just going for a quick skank.

The Pillows - Come Down: I've posted some Pillows before but, well, fuck it, they deserve another go. Come Down is a favourite song of mine, a song that careens wildly between quiet, tense moments and warbling frantic insanity (but in a happy, smiley kind of way). Good stuff.

Enjoy kiddies wink
