An awful lot of online harassment is because a guy says something to a girl that in his view is in some way something she might want or need to hear, which may be fair enough, but when he doesn't get the response he feels he was looking for, he rolls up his sleeves and forcefully repeats it it, over and over, hoping each time to set the world right and receive what he views as the proper reply to his kind offering. But this is because he lacks the very most basic of manners. For a man to open his mouth and approach a woman in any way is kind of impertinent. He is very blessed if she responds at all. I'm not saying this is a particularly kinky way, I just mean, naturally, men should know that you can't just start talking to any woman they see and expect a warm response. It's not natural. But the internet gives us (men) the illusiin that we can walk up and start talking to strangers while we are lying in our underwear eating toast and get treated liked a knight in shining armour. So we have no manners. Manners have collapsed. We don't know that if we open our cake holes and a woman doesn't welcome it, we need to hush up and float away. So in the absence of our own manners we don't get what we would consider a polite response, so we roll up our sleeves and forcefully repeat ourselves, our sense of indignation growing. But where in our Conservative minds did we get the notion our peasant ass had the right to address this queen or princess in the first place? Mainly the internet gives us this idea, because for us it is a world without consequence. For women it is a very stressful place. (Thanks to Lao Tzu for some of the ideas behind this piece)
