So...modern dance...what's the deal? Am I just an uncultured boob who can't appreciate it? Saw my first performance last night and I was not at all impressed. The dancers flow around the stage, doing sommersaults and all that junk. It's not even to the rhythm of the music. The men wear skirts too so they flow as well. It's pretty to watch, but I just don't get it. Or perhaps there's nothing to get. As much as I want to be into all the fine arts, the only one I've really liked so far is symphony concerts and some theater. Musicals, opera, ballet, etc. Not really my bag.

don't worry about missing out on the whole culture aspect. i'm sure those events are enjoyable, but a society reaching for more culture just segregates us more.
