I have been laying in bed for nearly 3 months now.

Staying in bed really loses it's charm after the first day.

Anyway, for the first time in 14 years I was forced to spend 2 weeks in the hospital (the first time I have been back since I was hurt) because of flat wheelchair cushion.

-February something-

My day started normal, new nurse, explain my routine, get dressed, get into my chair, eat, and work. Everything was going fine, but something started to feel weird after about an hour. I figured that the new nurse put me in the wheelchair differently than I'm use to so I shrugged it off, tried to relieve the pressure the best I could, and get work done. It wasn't until 1am when I was getting into bed that I saw my cushion went flat, to the metal flat, and I knew that was going to be bad.

I sat in the chair like that from 11am to 1am. Pressure sores can happen in as little as 20 minutes.

-Pressure sores can happen to anyone, but it is worse for me because of my muscle loss, fat loss, limited feeling, and sitting in the wheelchair for so long in general-

I lived my life normal (with a good cushion) because even if the sore is there, their wasn't much I could do about it, but on February 25 my nurse noticed a hole -a hole- on my backside (this is how these sores work; from the inside out). Panic mode. Keep your shit together. Flip out. Get a firm grasp on the situation.

Shit just got realbad.

I am not new to immediate situations, so I had my mom train my nurses how to apply bandages, and make sure that it didn't get worse (my mom and I were familiar with this situation because Butterworth left me on the wood backboard over night which left a 2inch deep sore on my tailbone).

So being use to the situation I did my best to keep the pressure off my butt and do what I normally do everyday, but February 27th I was forced to go the ER because I was unable to concentrate, I was always freezing regardless of the temperature in my room, and had to take Tylenol to keep my whole body spams/chills away.

-ER visit-
-drive myself (mom went with me)
-sit around for 3hrs
-sit in er room 1hr
-dudes get me out of my chair and put me on the tiny bed
-wait 2hrs for doctor
-doctor looks..give me stuff ..sends me home

Go home, live life, use stuff, hope for the best.

Problem2 days later the sore starts smelling awful (cool huh :rollseyessmile, fever worse, everything worse, google symptoms: Infection, could be deadly, see doctor immediately.

fudge.

-ER visit 2-
-drive self..mom
-where the fuck is a doctor
-Tylenol
-wait..freezing..shaking..
-zombiebrains
-DOCTORSHIT!
-er room..dudes..clock starts spinning on its own (wall clock; hands went around without being manually or automatically moved)
-blood..fluids..nervous..stuff..stuff..bored
-doctor..stuff..admitted

So the sore is infected to the bone, 3 inches deep, I need 24/7 iv antibiotics, a special pressure relief bed and lots of doctors.

I spent 2 weeks in the hospital (one of which I didn't have a computer until my mom let me use hers.)

I had surgery to clean the sore, infection, bone, and put on a machine that sucks onto to the sore and helps it heal inside out. I also had a picc line installed so the medicine could flow slowly 24/7.

I am at home now, and have been for 2 months, but I just got my new macbook pro a few weeks ago, so using the net and such was hard on my moms machine (I still very much appreciated using it). It is very hard to type in bed, and I still have a month or so to go before it's healed, but I look forward to working and getting back to "normal".

I feel good, don't have the picc line, infection, or the machine on the sore anymore so I'm close, and I'll never assume again lol
