Ive been a member of SG for a while. I pay 9 bucks a month because I'm cheap. That doesn't make sense now, but it did when I selected how to originally pay.
I like SG. I grew up in Hickory NC. My father lived in Atlanta and worked as a photographer. He shot stuff for Playboy for about 2 years. That fell through and he continued shooting, what I came to know as, "Girlie Stuff." I was stoked as a kid and wanted to know all I could about this endlessly entertaining business.
As I grew up, i did learn more. Alot of the stuff I found out was what I expected. Liberal people with cool attitudes toward shit that was generally not discussed in Hickory North Carolina.
I also saw sides I never expected to see. Complicated relationships between models, photographers, make up artists, and stylists alike. These relationships turned out not to be based on a creative alternative lifestyle, but money. Shit I thought was totally unthinkable, became more the norm.
My dad being pissed at some girl for wanting him to take her sets down from his site, or quit selling them to magazines. And girls being pissed at him for not be more than willing to do so at her first sign of re-evaluating her nakedness in public.
I was confused. I still am sometimes. At what point is the line drawn between chivalry and business. Its fucked. It's all about not wanting to work a fucking repetitive lame 9 to 5. Or at least thats how I now justify it.
Ive been reading the shit about relationships between SG models and the people that run the show. About how SG treats girls that bared all for them, and the implications of SG's original intent. Which is certainly one of the things thats draws me to the site.
I can see both sides of the arguments. As I always have in my fathers business. It's fucked up.
I want SG to be about changing the status quo. About changing the preception of nudity, art, and even porn. And I guess maybe it is. Meh, I dont know.
