After a short convo with Trekka today, I had an odd thought: There don't seem to be any, or at least many, non-religious youth service groups. It sometimes seems like half my incoming freshman students come in talking about their church group service trip, usually to Mexico, where they built houses or schools or something (and, according to their papers and discussions, encountered their first kisses, beers, and boobs). This is a good experience for the kids, as it starts them on the journey to firmly yank their heads out of their asses.
But what about the kids who aren't into religion? What about the ones from non-religious families, who don't join church groups? My scope of looking for such things has been pretty limited, but I've never come across something like that.
I wonder if such a thing would be possible? I admit that I find the fact that all these groups go to Mexico rather funny, since Mexico is 82.7% Catholic, but none of these youth groups share that distinction.
Anyway, that's my thought.

I also told her I want to work on my self esteem issues, my issues of flash judging people and thinking that basically everyone I come across is an idiot, as well as trust issues and a shitload of other stuff.
