Ok. So, anyway, my love life is . . . ummm . . . odd . . .

I haven't had a real date in years. And since if sworn off one-night-stands, I haven't had much in the way of physical intimacy. Which, as I get older, I've gotten used to.

Anyway, I've been friends with a young lady for about 15 years (which is a statement that makes me feel old like no other). We tried to date for a bit a few years ago, but she is also a very close friend to several of my cousins, and in their calm and gentle way, started putting pressure on us like crazy. So, after about a week or so, we gave it up and went our seperate ways. Other than a few meetings at NYE parties and weddings, we haven't had much contact.

That leads us up to a few months ago. I got around to signing up for a facebook page. Lo and behold, she and I bumped into each other on that evil site and started talking (and flirting a bit). Somehow, she hasn't gotten married (or really had much of a dating life) over the last few years. She's been building up her career as a teen counselor and has a schedule that makes me dizzy to think about. Anyway, during the last couple of months, we've seen each other twice, and things have gotten a bit physical (although she's still a virgin, and we haven't gone too far).

Sounds very sophisitcated and comfortable, eh? One small problem. She has dreams of getting married and shooting out a few kids. And I don't. We both know this about each other. There aren't any illusions, at least on my part. But I have this fear that she is putting me into her plans for the future. I know she is very sensible, but she is also approaching 30. I don't mean that in a bad way. But I do know that she has spent the last few weeks attending bridal and baby showers pretty much every weekend, and I've seen before when a woman watches all her friends move on to the next stage in life.

I feel like I'm generalizing here. I don't have any proof that she is going to act in any particular way. I just have a fear that she is wanting more from me than I am willing to give, and she might think she can change me around to her way of thinking. But I simply don't want kids. I am an uncle. That is enough for me.

Well, it sounds like a situation where youre going to have to just wait it out and then if it comes to that point, just talk about it. And be honest. Honesty is the best policy. smile

I don't really want kids either, but the boyfriend does eventually. Still haven't figured that out.... I guess all you can do is let her know pretty clearly where you stand and just see where this goes.

And no, no pigtails. tongue Or pics, actually. My camera's dead as a doornail. And my hair was just a mad, mad mess of curls that's now a mad, mad mess of curls with twigs and leaves in it. Hehe.
