I'm so porn.


I decided to have a not-so-healthy treat today and got yummy gelato from the gelatissimo nearby. I thought I was doing super well asking for it in a waffle cone instead of a cup. (You guys might remember, I posted about it two blog entries ago, I'm trying to reduce my plastic waste and ice cream cup = one use only = waste). I think its awesome that ice cream comes in an edible container. She tried to get me a cup despite me saying I wanted it in a cone and I managed to catch her RIGHT before she put the ice cream into it and remind her that I wanted a cone. I was so proud of my quick thinking that I didn't notice that she wedged a little plastic spoon into the ice cream till it was too late! D'oh! It was delicious though.

Lastweek I was at the butcher buying food for my cat (he eats a chicken wing and a handful of prescription dry food every day). I'd brought a green bag with me so that the guy only needed to put the chicken wings in one small plastic bag. He'd put it in the first plastic bag and was reaching for the second and I handed him my green bag and asked him to just put it in there. He argued with me saying that the chicken MIGHT LEAK out of the first bag and onto the second one so it NEEDED a second bag!!!1 I'm too chickenshit to say anything when people argue with me so I just let him, but goddamn! I can wash my green bag (and by wash, I mean leave it on the washing line to be rained on) its really not that big a deal! Oh well. The first bag didn't leak by the by.

So this is just a reminder that people don't *think* about waste. Its truly amazing how much my eyes have been opened to this over the last week!
