Blogs... an abbreviation from the word "weblog"... a word that sounds like some sort of digestive malady.

I've always avoided such spaces. when LiveJournal went online, I avoided it like a biohazard zone. Then MySpace and Facebook; same thing. I just never went in for all that self-promotion.

I never know what to put in these things. If I go for the random amusements, then I'm just filling space. But if I use it as my own personal rant-space; well who wants to hang out with a whiner/ranter/curmedgeon? I sure wouldn't.

There are people who have become celebrities for having these things... and even villains. I'm thinking of the MySpace suicide case that's pending. Admittedly, I don't know all the details, but it does speak volumes that we have such powerful tools essentially lying around for anyone who wishes to avail themselves.

And then there are people who I'm sure have meaningful, relevant, interesting content on theirs that no one will ever see. And the funny thing is that it's the Internet; it's all available for anyone who wants to see it. Why one and not the other? It's not a matter of advertising, or money, or power. So what is it?

I guess this entry falls under the "randomness" category. I think I've said all I can say for right now. Be well, all.
