I never thought my "don't take shit form anyone" attitude would ever be a benifit to me working as a waitress, but I was dead wrong. Since the ass-rape of General Motors by the government only seems to be getting worse and I don't see myself building cars again in the near future, I took a job as a waitress at a bar. The bar is right next to a truck stop. Most of our clientele are either truckers, bikers or factory workers. It is in the heart of blue-collar central. Saturday night was my first weekend working there and I was already warned not to chat much with the truckers and bikers. Yeah whatever...I know how to deal with bikers since I grew up around them and have worked with them in the tattoo studio. Truckers, ok...I don't know a lot about these guys. I had an older man come in early in the night, about 6 or so for dinner and to shoot some pool. He had a friend with him, another trucker. His friend was quite reserved, but the more Budweisers I brought the man I started calling Santa Clause, the more "friendly" he got. I did not mind talking to him about music and the like in my down time, but his tab was getting ridiculously high and I decided to cash him out and make him pay cash for anything I brought him after that. He gave me his credit card and as I was walking away to print out his credit card slip, I could see his hand moving towards my ass out of the corner of my eye. I snapped my hand back and grabbed him by the wrist. I glared into his eyes and said "Try me asshole." He laughed and sat back in his seat. I thought for sure this killed my tip, but whatever. When I brought his slip back, he signed it and added my tip immediately. He tipped me $50 on a $30 alcohol tab in addition to the $20 he had tipped me on his food earlier in the night! I told him this must be a mistake, but he replied that he liked my attitude and I was cool in his book. Turns out, being a bitch is a good thing.
