There is nothing quite like having your weekend spoiled by someone else's incompetence . . . 
I was SUPPOSED to finish up a proposal today that is due Tuesday. This I was aware of . . . and considering it is a contract big enough to support my group for the next two years (about $1.3M), I had no issue potentially missing one day of my vacation. This is what I get paid for.
What I don't get paid for is to have someone from another office call me up from their fucking vacation to say:
Hi! Sorry I have not talked to you earlier but all the work you have been waiting for us to tell you to go ahead and start is due to the client on Tuesday. I hope this doesn't change your plans for the holiday.
By the way, I will be at Mamoth skiing this weekend so there will be no way to contact me. Talk to you when I get back!
Oh, and this was a voice mail they left at 5:30am . . . a time that even I am rarely in the office.
There are now four gouges across my desk from me scraping the surface with my nails. (good thing I am in my server room at the moment and not my office)
What really pisses me off is that because of WHO the client is I HAVE to get this thing done on time. Being in breech of a Federal contract . . . let alone with a department that is getting a lot of attention at the moment . . . is not a good thing. Had it been any other contract I would have told them where to stick it.
The party responsible for this little feat will be feeling the full force of my wrath upon their return. One lesson everyone should learn is never fuck with a Scorpio . . . they are relentless, vindictive, vicious little fucks that have long memories . . . and this transgression is beyond even my benevolence.
Update: My new availability this weekend has potentially accelerated my plan to get a new piercing. House of Freaks is standing by to do a 10ga septum for me tomorrow after noon . . . this gives me 20 hours to mull things over. They have a 10ga black retainer so I will be able to let it heal up discreetly without letting everyone in the office know I am a complete freak.
So, who thinks I should do it?
Update 2: It is done . . . I now have a 10ga septum piercing with a retainer in it. I got it maybe 30 minutes ago so it still feels kinda funny. I will post a picture later this weekend . . .
